PHRYGIA. Apameia. Circa 88-40 BC. AE (Bronze, 23 mm, 7.43 g, 1 h), Antiphon, son of Menekles, magistrate. Bust of Athena to right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet and aegis. Rev. AΠAMEΩN - ΑΝΤΙΦΩΝ / [Μ]ΕΝΕΚ[ΛΕΟΥΣ] Eagle right, landing on maeander pattern flanked by caps of the dioscuri surmounted by stars; above, star. SNG Copenhagen 164. SNG München 110-1. Attractive dark patina. Minor cleaning scratches and with a flan fault on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
