China, Yüan Shih-k'ai (1859-1916), President of the Republic, 1912-1916; a heavy metal medallic galvano of the portrait obverse of the posthumous silver dollar, year 8 (1919), after the design by Luigi Giorgi, Chief Engraver at the Central Mint in Tientsin, bust of Yüan Shih-k'ai l., in uniform, seven character date above, 227mm. (cf. Kann type 646, etc.), contained in a blackened metal frame, surface once lacquered and colour now uneven, otherwise much as made and a handsome and decorative piece
The blank reverse has six drilled holes, hidden by the frame, perhaps intended for attachment to a reducing machine.
