Gordian III. A.D. 238-244. AR antoninianus (20 mm, 4.74 g, 7 h). Rome, A.D. 238. IMP CAES M ANT GORDIANVS AVG, radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III right / PAX AVGVSTI, Pax standing facing, head left, holding branch and scepter. RIC 189a; RSC 174a. Nice very fine.
The St. Jean d'Ardieres Hoard consisted of 4,100 antoniniani and three denarii struck from 215 until 252. It was studied by Vincent Drost and his results published in Trésors Monétaires.
