Yajnabala. 2nd century A.D. Æ 1/2 karshapana (11 mm, .93 g). Lamp flanked by standards, all resting on sacred pedestal / Reverse: Brahmi legend
Yajnaba(la), with three Panchala dynastic symbols above. Not listed in Mitchiner. Shrimali (
History of Pancala) records an early king called Yajnapala, but here the legend clearly reads
Yajnabala. The fabric is also a much later type, so this coin was issued by a hitherto unrecorded ruler Yajnabala. Very rare. Very fine.
