Idrisid, 'Ali b. Muhammad (221-234h), dirham, 'Zila' 229h, 2.03g (cf Eustache 81-82 ['Ziz']), crudely struck, fine and very rare. Eustache records two varieties of dirham from a mint he read as 'Ziz', both bearing the same date as the present coin [229h]. It is tempting to equate this with the mint-name on the piece offered here, although this does appear to be longer than 'Ziz' – 'Zila', suggested here, is a possibility.
