Gold Medal: Hungary, an International Football Gold Prize Medal, engraved date 1926.VI.6, attributed to Lajos Fischer, goalkeeper in the 6 June 1926 match against Czechoslovakia held in Budapest which Hungary won 2-1, 35.2mm, with barrel-loop suspension and triangular ribbon for wearing, 18 ct. fine, wt. 24g all in, extremely fine. Offered with biographical information on Lajos Fischer (1902-78), 'a dependable goalie who was capable of acrobatic saves'. He began his career with VAC, the only exclusively Jewish club in Hungary, and appeared for Hungary in 9 Internationals in the mid-1920s. He later played for for Hakoah Vienna before settling in the U.S. where he played in a total of 122 American Soccer League games, includin6 32 appearances for the Hakoah All-Stars.
