CELTIC, Lower Danube. Uncertain tribe. Early 3rd century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 14.58 g, 10 h), an early imitation of Philip II, copying an issue from Amphipolis. Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠ-ΟV Nude jockey riding horse prancing to right; below horse's raised foreleg dolphin swimming to right. CCCBM I 3. Cf. Flesche 640. cf. Kostial 359. OTA -. Nomos 15, 22 October 2017, 3 (these dies). A very rare variety, struck on a broad flan. Clear and attractive. Reverse struck slightly off centre, otherwise, very fine.
