LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 330-290 BC. Nomos or Didrachm (Silver, 18.5 mm, 7.83 g, 8 h), Ap... and Atha... Head of Demeter facing, turned slightly to the right, wearing wreath of grain ears, triple-pendant earrings, and necklace; lower right, tiny AΠ. Rev. META Barley ear with leaf to right; above leaf, bucranium; below leaf, AΘA. HN III 1584. Johnston Class C, 2.5 (same dies). Beautiful early Hellenistic style. Struck on a tight flan, otherwise, good very fine.
