LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 330-290 BC. Didrachm or nomos (Silver, 19 mm, 7.93 g, 7 h), Ly... Head of Demeter to left, wearing grain wreath, triple pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. ΜΕΤΑ Ear of barley with leaf to left; above leaf, griffin charging to right; below leaf, ΛY. HN III 1589. Johnston Class C, 6.15 (same dies). SNG ANS 491 (same obverse die). A clear, bright and nicely struck example, of fine style. Struck on a tight flan with some flatness, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
