KINGS OF MACEDON. Kassander, 305-298 BC. Hemiobol (Bronze, 18 mm, 3.81 g, 9 h), uncertain mint in Asia Minor (?), c. 301 BC. Helmeted head of Athena to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΚΑΣΣΑΝΔΡΟΥ Club and bow in bowcase. SNG Copenhagen 1159. Lovely green glossy patina. Overstruck and with the obverse slightly off-center, otherwise, good very fine.

This series are mainly overstruck on coins of Philip III, (see Obolos 7, 82) and originate from the east Asia Minor area. One might be tempted to associate the minting of this series with the Cassander's exhibition to Asia Minor and the battle of Ipsus in 301 BC.
