CILICIA. Uncertain. Circa 470-430 BC. Stater (Silver, 19 mm, 10.75 g, 4 h). Herakles striding to right, holding club in his upraised right hand, preparing to strike a fallen helmeted warrior – possibly an Amazon with bared breasts – whom he holds by the helmet with his left hand; in field to left, Aramaic letter (zayin?). Rev. Bull standing to right, within dotted square border; all within a shallow incuse square. Apparently unpublished, but see CNG e430, 2018, 193 (uncertain Cyprus) and Roma XVI, 2018, 334 (uncertain Cilicia). Of great rarity. With a fascinating obverse type. Struck from a worn and corroded obverse die and from a slightly corroded reverse die, as are the other known examples, otherwise, good very fine.
