KINGS OF CAPPADOCIA. Ariarathes IV, circa 220-163 BC. (Bronze, 18 mm, 5.42 g, 11 h). Draped and draped bust of Ariarathes IV to left, wearing bashlyk. Rev. APIAPAΘ Athena seated left, elbow resting on shield to right, holding Nike in her extended right hand and spear in her left. HGC 7, 805. Simonetta 7 (as Ariarathes III). With an exceptionally powerful portrait in high relief. Very dark black-green patina with earthen highlights. Good very fine.
