SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Tryphon, circa 142-138 BC. (Bronze, 17.5 mm, 5.42 g, 1 h), Antioch on-the-Orontes. Diademed head of Tryphon to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΤΡΥΦΟΝΟΣ ΑΥΤΟΚΡΑΤΟΡΟΣ Ornate Macedonian helmet to left, with spike on top and with a wild goat's horn over the visor; inner left, star. HGC 9, 1061. SC 2034.2e. Sharply struck from well-made dies of fine style; a lovely example with a reddish-brown patina. Nearly extremely fine.
