ARABIA, Himyarites. Time of Augustus, Circa 24 BC. Siglos (Silver, 27 mm, 5.31 g, 6 h), imitating an Athenian New Style tetradrachm, probably the Sullan issue. Laureate head of Augustus to right; behind his neck, n (South Arabian); all within olive wreath. Rev. Owl on amphora between two monograms; to right curved symbol of Almaqah; the whole within border of stylized amphorae. BMC 35. Göbl 1289. Huth 292. RPC 4994. A particularly attractive and clear example of this type, with a lovely old cabinet tone. Flan crack, otherwise, good very fine.
