Edward III (1327-77), Half-Noble, Tower, series C/A mule, 3.85g [59.4gns], 2h, single annulet stops, reads franc d', reverse-barred ns, ropes 3/3, ornaments 1-1-1, quatrefoils 4/3, rev. i.m. cross pattée [6], second a punched over s in argvas, unbarred as, double saltire stops, closed e in centre (LAL 1/-; Doubleday 29, same obverse die; Schneider I, 14; Stewartby III, 899, same obverse die; N.1145; S.1492), heavily double-struck on obverse, otherwise about very fine details, very rare.
Presumably a recent discovery when reviewed for identification purposes at Colchester Museum on 19 June 2001
