Edward III (1327-77), Noble, Tower, series E, 7.64g [117.9gns], 3h, single annulet stops, unbarred as and ns, reads hib, ropes 3/3, ornaments 1-11-11-1, quatrefoils 3/4, rev. i.m. cross pattée [cross 2 (3)], small e in centre (LAL, dies T/45; Doubleday 55/57, same dies; cf. Schneider I, 23, albeit reads hi; N.1160; S.1488), a trace of double-striking and probably once cleaned, nevertheless a bold striking on a broad flan, a pleasing very fine.
