CYRRHESTICA, Hierapolis. Caracalla. AD 198-217. AR Tetradrachm (26.5mm, 14.36 g, 1h). Struck circa AD 215-217. Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Eagle standing left, head left and tail right, with right wing behind leg, holding wreath in beak; between legs, lion advancing left. Prieur 931 (this coin); Bland, "Six Hoards of Syrian Tetradrachms of the Third Century AD," (NC 1991), p. 25, no. 7 (this coin–illustrated on pl. X). Lightly toned, some pitting and roughness. VF. Extremely rare, only two noted by Prieur, and none in CoinArchives.
