MESOPOTAMIA, Carrhae. Macrinus. AD 217-218. AR Tetradrachm (22.5mm, 12.19 g, 6h). Radiate head right / Eagle standing facing, head and tail right, with wings spread, holding wreath in beak; star to upper left, crescent between legs, [three pellets in exergue]. Prieur 833 var. (normal star). Lightly toned, light porosity. Good VF. Extremely rare, Prieur did not own this example when he published his book, and only three in CoinArchives.

An unusual variety with the star on the reverse having rays ending with pellets.
