SASANIAN KINGS. Shapur II. AD. 309-379. Gold Dinar (7.22 gm; 20 mm). Sind mint. Bust of Shapur II right, wearing mural crown with korymbos; faint Cresent and star monogram to right at 3 o'clock. Reverse: Fire altar with ribbons. Cf. SNS III pl. 145, C1-C2; cf. MK 1352; cf. Paruck 253; Sunrise 860-1. Two large pellets at either end of the crown's top edge. Very unusual and the first example we have handled. Probably over-struck on an earlier issue. Pleasing surfaces and problem-free. Choice Very Fine. Very Rare.
