Carolingian. Lothar I (840-855) Denier ND XF45 NGC, Unidentified mint (possibly Lyon), Rob-Unl., MEC I-Unl., cf. MG-582, cf. Coupland Group A-Plate 38, 51. 20mm. 1.54gm. +LVTNΛRIVS V IIIP, cross pattee with pellet in each angle / +PIƧTIΛNΛ RELCO, temple portico with pellet to either side of the upper cross. An intriguing type of noticeably good craftsmanship despite the blundering of the legends, the fields still admitting a glowing luminescence. Sold with old collector's envelope.
