CILICIA, Tarsos. Circa 420-410 BC. AR Stater (20mm, 10.83 g, 5h). Horseman riding left; to upper right, bird (eagle or owl?) standing left; [monogram to lower right], [winged solar disk below] / Archer kneeling right, drawing bow; monogram to lower left; all in dotted square within incuse square. Cf. Casabonne Type D (unlisted variety); SNG BN –; SNG Levante –; SNG von Aulock –; CNG E-434, lot 117 (same dies); CNG E-432, lot 90 (same dies); CNG E-430, lot 172 (same dies). Struck with heavily worn obverse die, some die wear on reverse. VF. Rare.
