Contorniates. Late 4th century AD. Æ Contorniate (40.5mm, 26.83 g, 6h). In the name of Divus Trajan. DIVO TRAIA NO AVGVSTO, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right; palm frond engraved in right field / Aerial view of chariot race in the Circus Maximus: spina with obelisk of Augustus flanked by metae, lap-counter, and statues of horseman and boar right; two quadrigae above; two quadrigae below. Cf. Alföldi, Kontorniat 388, pl. 161, 9. Green patina, earthen highlights, some peripheral roughness, attempted piercing. Good Fine. Rare.
