Ancient Imitation of Athens New Style. Drachm; Ancient Imitation of Athens New Style; Drachm, 3.46g. Thompson-1424 (Istanbul, same dies). Obv: Helmeted head of Athena r. Rx: [S??]??S [?]?T?[???] Owl standing r. on amphora, head front; star between crescents to r. of amphora; all within olive wreath. Thompson implies that the Istanbul specimen from these dies is good silver or at least silver-plated; this coin is surely from the same workshop and perhaps was originally silver-plated as well.
