SICILY. Selinus. Ca. 417-409 BC. AR tetradrachm (27mm, 16.91 gm, 7h). NGC MS 4/5 - 3/5, Fine Style. ΣEΛINONTION, Nike driving galloping quadriga right, reins in both hands; laurel wreath above, grain ear right in exergue / Male river-god Selinus, nude, standing facing, head left, phiale in right hand over lighted altar at left, palm cradled on left arm; rooster standing left before altar, selinon leaf above bull standing left on base at right. SNG ANS -. Dewing -. cf. BMC 44-45 (ethnic on reverse). High relief quadriga and wonderfully detailed reverse.
