George V gold Proof Pattern Crown 1935 PR65 Deep Cameo PCGS, KM-PnM122, ESC-379, W&R-424. By Bertram Mackennal and Percy Metcalfe. An exceptional Proof rarity - George V's silver Jubilee Crown struck in gold. From a mintage of supposedly just 30 pieces, 25 of which were made available to the public with the remainder being consigned to museums; and of these 25, only 7 have been graded by either PCGS or NGC, the present offering representing the highest graded (tied with just one other example). Accordingly, collectors could hope for no finer a specimen of this incredible type than this. Produced to an exceptionally high standard, its fields deep-gold mirrors unmarred by significant hairlines, George's portrait luxuriously frosted in a pleasing contrast. Every detail has been definitively struck up and lovingly handled, cumulating in an absolutely sublime eye-appeal. Extremely rarely offered, a much-beloved design in an elite fabric, and a must-have addition to solely the finest collection of British Proofs.
