First World War, personal medal.The Emden had landed a raiding party on Direction Island in the Keeling Cocos Islands to destroy a radio mast, when HMS Sydney appeared and engaged von Müller, destroying the ship and capturing the surviving crew. The landing-party under von Mücke seized the Ayesha and escaped, eventually returning to Germany.
