Fiat' Italian Emergency issue, World War II, a sheet of 30 notes comprising Banco di Roma (10) 100 lire, Credito Italiano, 100 lire (10) and Banca Commerciale Italiana 100 lire (10), the sheet pale yellow-orange with a green central guilloche, value in tablet at centre, all are dated Torino, 30 October 1944 and have two printed signatures low right, one of which is Senator Giovanni Agnelli, the President of Fiat Motors. In additition there are two sheets of 15 notes each comprising Banco di Roma (10) 500 lire, Credito Italiano, 500 lire (10) and Banca Commerciale Italiana 500 lire (10), the sheet pale mauve with a lilac central guilloche, value in tablet at centre, all are dated Torino, 10 November 1944 and have two printed signatures low right, one of which is Senator Giovanni Agnelli, the President of Fiat Motors, These emergency notes were issued during the Italian Socialist Republic towards the end of the War due to the shortage of National currency. The notes were printed on watermarked paper by the printers 'Roggero' in Turin on limestone printing blocks. The notes are not numbered as this process would presumably be added prior to circulation. In total there are three sheets (1 sheet 30 x100 lire, 2 sheets 15 x 500 lire) comprising 10 sets of the 100 lire and 10 sets of the 500 lire, each set comprising the three banks listed for each denomination. Uncirculated and unusual (3 sheets/60 notes).

Estimate: £300 - £400
