Ancients
Diva Faustina Senior (AD 138-140/1). AR denarius (19mm, 3.07 gm, 6h). NGC Choice Fine 4/5 - 4/5. Rome, after AD 141. DIVA AVG-FAVSTINA, draped bust of Diva Faustina Senior right, seen from front, hair elaborately waved in several loops with pearls around head, braided, drawn up and coiled on top / PVELLAE-FAVSTINIANAE, Antoninus Pius seated left on platform on right, woman standing left beside him, both leaning forward to receive a small girl carried by a male standing right on ground below; another male running left on ground along the platform and hurrying another small girl. RIC III (Antoninus Pius) 399a. Extremely rare - only one example found in sales archives.

From the Morris Collection

This reverse type refers to the Puellae Faustinianae, or the "Girls of Faustina", the charity that Antoninus Pius established in memory of his wife, Faustina Senior, after her death in AD 141. The charity was to provide for the poor girls of the city and the figures on the platform are likely Antoninus Pius and Faustina receiving the little girls who are to be the recipients of their charity.
