Elizabeth II "Multi-Ply Steel" 10 Cents 2000-P MS67 PCGS, Royal Canadian Mint, KM183. Charlton notes that in 2001, the Royal Canadian Mint began issuing 10 Cent coins struck from their new multi-ply steel blanks. The process is acid based and electroplates a thin coating of nickel, then copper, then nickel again onto a steel core. Prior to 2001, "P" coinage was only issued to the vending industry for testing purposes. The 1999P and 2000P ten-cents originated from this source. This full gem selection is a wonderful example of this modern type that was created for testing purposes only. For comparison, we note that an MS67 graded example sold in Auction 3054, Lot 30427, for $1292.50, including Buyer's Premium.
