AKARNANIA. Argos Amphilochikon. AR Stater, ca. 340-300 B.C. ICG EF 45.
Pegasi-33; BCD Akarnania-139; HGC-4, 784. Obverse: Pegasos flying left; Reverse: Helmeted head of Athena left; AMΦΙ above, ABP and spear to right. Extravagantly lustrous and brilliant, this gorgeous piece would appear to be somewhat undergraded, as there is no real evidence of wear. The majestic Pegasos is in full flight, while Athena's head and helmet perfectly fill the slight concavity that is the reverse field. A few light marks on the back of the holder are noted, and are not on the coin itself.

Estimate: $1000.00- $1500.00
