ATTICA. Athens. AR Tetradrachm (17.19 gms), ca. 454-404 B.C. NGC MS★, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 5/5.
Kroll-8; HGC-4, 1597. Obverse: Helmeted head of Athena right; Reverse: Owl standing right, head facing; olive sprig and crescent to left; all within incuse square. Exceedingly lustrous and sharply struck with perfect centering, this Athenian owl is a definitive cut above. The test cuts, scratches, and overall poorly positioned strikes which extensively plague this issue are not at all involved with the present piece. Worthy of intense focus and spirited bidding, and assured to elicit the covetous gaze of numerous collectors.
Estimate: $4000.00- $6000.00
