JUDAEA. First Jewish War, 66-70 C.E. AR Shekel (13.21 gms), Jerusalem Mint, Year 4 (69/70 C.E.). NGC Ch VF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 2/5. Smoothing.
Meshorer-207; Hendin-1364. Obverse: Omer cup; "shekel of Israel; year 4" around and above; Reverse: Three pomegranates on stem; "Jerusalem the holy" around. The shekels of year four are decidedly rarer than their counterparts from years one through three, and are highly sought after regardless of the grade. This example, though presenting some roughness to its surfaces along with some smoothing as noted, is nevertheless a well struck specimen worthy of much consideration.

From the Solomon Collection.

Ex: Heritage (5/2009) Lot #20062.

Estimate: $12000.00- $15000.00
