Mildenberg-23 (O5'/R14'); Meshorer-243; Hendin-1392. Obverse: "Sm'" (abbreviated "Simon") across field; all within wreath with eight almonds; Reverse: Two upright trumpets; "year two of the freedom of Israel" around. A charmingly toned example, with hints of gold around the devices. A few edge splits are noted, along with a slight degree of weakness, but the strike is otherwise bold. Overstruck on a drachm of Trajan from Bostra, his nose and forehead being visible between the base of the trumpet on the right and the rim.
