BELGIUM. Flanders. Chaise d'Or, ND (1419-67). Ghent Mint. Phillippe le Bon. NGC VF-30.
Fr-181; Delm-485. Obverse: PHS : DVX : BVRG x x COM x FLAD : HES : HOL ZR, Philippe seated on Gothic throne at center, point beneath G of BVRG; Reverse: + XPC 8 VINCIT 8 XPC 8 REGNAT 8 XPC 8 INPERAT, cross in quadrilobe with leaves surrounding; point beneath the G in REGNAT. A small flaw in the planchet shows on the rim above + XPC. Superior preservation and eye appeal for this RARE type. Well struck for the issue, showing just a touch of softness at near the borders as is typical. Intense luster remains in the protected regions, complementing the rich honey-gold coloration. Virtually as sharp as the piece that brought $6,700 in the March 2018 sale by Jean Elsen. An important offering.

Estimate: $1500.00- $2500.00
