BRAZIL. 320 Reis, 1826-R. Rio de Janeiro Mint. Pedro I. PCGS MS-62 Gold Shield.
KM-374; LDMB-P497. The last digit of the date appears to be an overdate of 6/5, not listed in SCWC. Struck over a 1754-64 320 Reis "J" Series that exhibits a good portion of the 1809 shield countermark (KM-298 for countermarked undertype) in the central design of the obverse. A very rare date with an EXTREMELY RARE host coin having the previous shield countermark. Slightly unevenly struck leaving a decent amount of the undertypes legends visible in the upper left quadrant of the obverse and even more on the reverse. Well detailed and lustrous example with colorful, attractive toning. A seldom encountered date with an amazing host coin destine for an advanced collection.
With old collector's envelope.
Estimate: $2000.00- $3000.00
