Obverse: Bust half left of bearded Ali Pacha (1805-1848) with inscription: "MEHEMET ALI PACHA" around; Reverse: Ten-line inscription "FROM THE COMMITTEE / THE FRIEND / OF SCIENCE COMMERCE / & ORDER WHO PROTECTED / THE SUBJECTS AND PROPERTY / OF ADVERSE POWERS / AND KEPT OPEN / THE OVERLAND ROUTE / TO INDIA /1840" with two palm fronds below. A wonderful medal with a choice, semi-reflective mahogany bronze finish.
