GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg-Hannover. Taler, 1756-IBH. Zellerfeld Mint. George II. NGC MS-63.
Dav-2100; KM-294. Type struck for the "Goodness of the Lord" mine. A Taler issue that immediately captivates with its intricate design, depicting a mining scene with rays from the heavens shining down upon the workers. This example, preserved as nice as we've seen, showcases a strike that is bold and sharp, resulting in subtle reflective properties in the fields. Old cabinet tone only adds to this piece's already considerable charm, with a melange of colors traversing both sides, strengthening ever so slightly along portions of the rims. Altogether, a magnificent coin, certain to add depth to any collection it enters.

This Mining Taler, struck under George II, Elector (he was also King George II of England) was issued three times between 1745 and 1756; a similar Taler honoring the same mine is known from Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel (Dav-2164).
