GERMANY. Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel. 5 Mark, 1915-A. Berlin Mint. NGC PROOF-63.
Dav-638; KM-1164; J-58. Obverse legend with "u. LÜNEB." This is the more common of the two 5 Mark issued on the occasion of the duke's wedding and accession but it is still SCARCE. This is our first offering of the type since the 2012 NYINC sale (see lot 2422). Sharply struck as would be expected being a Berlin mint product with hard flashy proof surfaces with frosty devices, a few scattered abrasions in the fields from long ago mark the grade now toned with a thin veneer of champagne tone. A wholesome example with a nice look.
