GREAT BRITAIN. Edward VII Gold Matte Proof Set (4 Pieces), 1902. London Mint. All PCGS Gold Shield Certified.
1) 5 Pounds. PCGS PROOF-62. S-3966; KM-807; Fr-398a.

2) 2 Pounds. PCGS PROOF-63. S-3968; KM-806; Fr-399a.

3) Sovereign. PCGS PROOF-62. S-3969; KM-805; Fr-400a.

4) 1/2 Sovereign. PCGS PROOF-61. S-3974A; KM-804; Fr-401a.

Mintage: 8,066 sets. An attractive selection from the coronation Proof Set, all faintly handled as is typical of these issues. Matte Proofs were a novel concept in 1902, but unfortunately the new concept led most collectors (and some mint workers) to attempt to brighten what they thought were supposed to be shiny proof coins.

Estimate: $5000.00- $6000.00
