The accompanying letter attests that this set was presented by Pope John Paul II to Jean Chretien, prime minister of Canada, during his visit there on May 19, 1998, and thereafter passed to a member of the staff of Chretien's wife. 1) Gold Medal. 44 mm diameter, 60 gms, .917 fine gold.
2) Silver Medal. 44 mm diameter, 40 gms, .986 fine silver.
3) Bronze Medal. 44 mm diameter, bronze.
A similar set (ser. no. 268) was sold by Auktionshaus Felzmann (Sale 139, lot 1685) in November 2012 for €2,000.
