PHILIPPINES. Mint Error -- Aluminum Planchets Struck Together -- 10 Centavos, 1937-M. Manila Mint. NGC MS-64.
0.36 gms. KM-181; Allen-9.01. An EXTREMELY RARE off-metal strike error. Struck on an aluminum planchet of unknown origins, effectively uniface (date-side visible; Reverse) due to multiple planchets fed between the dies subsequently struck at the same time. The reverse side exhibits an unusually high rim from being struck in such a soft metal. While the blank side bares only about half of a high rim. A flashy and lustrous near-Gem error with reflective design side surfaces and lightly toned somewhat matte blank side. A highly interesting and attractive piece destine for an advanced collection.
