PHILIPPINES. Japanese Occupation. Silvered Bronze Quartermaster Corps Commemorative Medal, 2601 (1941). By: C. Zamora. PCGS Genuine--Mount Removed, Unc Details Gold Shield.
Honeycutt-318; Basso-157. Silver plated bronze. Struck to commemorate "The Great East Asia War, Kaki 6561 Unit 2601 (1941). Obverse: Map of the Philippines in center, horse, Japanese soldier, and military truck around; Reverse: Two vertical lines of Japanese characters, palm tree in left field, "2601" below. Evidence of mount removal as indicated on the PCGS insert. Despite its shortcomings a very attractive and RARE medal that seldom appears on the market. We expect to see spirited bidding from the specialist.
