Obverse: Busts of Laurel and Vargas facing each other, legend around, date below; Reverse: Katipunan symbol, inscription on each side of triangle. RARE in this state of preservation and as such highly sought after. A well struck and attractive example with lovely mottled chocolate and mocha patina throughout.
The stars in the Katipunan symbol is said to represent the three major Philippine landmasses of Luzon, Visayas and Mindinao. While the 8-rayed sun represents liberty and the first eight provinces to rise up against the Spanish.
