50.0 gms. Honeycutt-322; Basso-166. Mintage: 1,500. Thick planchet. Struck to commemorate the establishment of the Executive Council. Obverse: Busts of Laurel and Vargas facing each other, legend around, date below; Reverse: Katipunan symbol, inscription on each side of triangle. Seldom encountered in this high grade and should be considered RARE. A well struck and attractive example with lovely mottled gingerbread and caramel patina throughout.
The stars in the Katipunan symbol is said to represent the three major Philippine landmasses of Luzon, Visayas and Mindinao. While the 8-rayed sun represents liberty and the first eight provinces to rise up against the Spanish.
