PHILIPPINES. Japanese Occupation. Copper Jose P. Laurel Medal, 1944. By: C. Zamora. PCGS Genuine--Corrosion Removed, AU Details Gold Shield.
Honeycutt-329; Basso-167. Mintage: 500. Struck to commemorate the first anniversary of the "Puppet" Presidency of the Philippine Republic. Obverse: Bust of Jose Laurel facing left, "JOSE PACIANO LAUREL" above; Reverse: Four line inscription, legend above, date below. A RARE low mintage medal with slight surface porosity on the obverse as noted on the PCGS insert. Minor smoothing in the reverse fields long since toned over matching the rest of the medal. Despite its shortcomings an attractive piece with nice mottled milk chocolate patina. The chance to acquire this seldom encountered piece does not present itself often and serious consideration should be taken into account.

From the Pasig River Collection.

Ex: Jess Zulueta Collection.

Estimate: $400.00- $600.00
