PHILIPPINES. Japanese Occupation. Set of Rizal Commemorative Medals (4 Pieces), 1943. By: C. Zamora. All are either NGC or PCGS Gold Shield Certified.
Struck to commemorate the life and principles of Jose Rizal. Each pieces exhibits the 3/4 right facing bust of Jose Rizal flanked by 1861-1896, Baybayin (Tagalog) script above; Reverse: Six line inscription. All but the silver example are unlisted in either Honeycutt or Basso. The silver medal by itself is considered VERY RARE, since none of the other metal types are listed they too should be considered of equal are greater rarity. With the exception of the plated copper example which exhibits somewhat of a flat luster, all others display hard flashy surfaces and frosty devices. A highly interesting and well matched set that clearly took many years to acquire to put together such an impressive gathering. Truly a great set worthy of a fine cabinet.
