KM-8 (for basic type). VERY RARE. Cross of Christ countermark on a 1895-Mo AM Mexico 8 Reales. The Cross of Christ is the insignia of the Order of Our Lord Jesus Christ established in Portugal in the fourteenth century and a symbol of Portuguese discoveries overseas. The host coin has developed an overall brownish tinge, as noted in the NGC designation, but is generally mark-free and pleasing overall.
