MAURICE TIBERIUS, 582-602. AV Tremissis (1.15 gms), Thessalonica Mint. NGC Ch EF, Strike: 3/5 Surface: 2/5. Wrinkled & Clipped.
S-504a. Obverse: Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust right; Reverse: Cross potent; CONOB. A fairly rare type, this issue parallels the tremisses from Constantinople, but vary slightly in terms of overall style and the addition of an 'A' in the obverse legends, which reads 'D N TIЬЄRA P P AVG.' Somewhat clipped and with a wavy flan, the present example still yields some underlying luster.
