FRANCE. Occupation of the Three Capitals Bronze Medal, 1807. Paris Mint. Napoleon I. NGC MS-65 Brown.
Bramsen-634; Julius-1744; d'Essling-1167; Zeitz-86. The Occupation of the Three Capitals. By Andrieu & Denon. Obverse: Laureate head right; Reverse: Civic personifications of Berlin, Warsaw, and Königsberg advancing right, each holding key to their city. Edge: Plain. Sublimely glossy brown surfaces, with an alluring underlying luster; a highly attractive specimen.

Napoleon's campaign to the east celebrated key victories after taking the important capitals of Berlin (Prussia), Königsberg (East Prussia), and Warsaw (South Prussia). The inspiration for the reverse of this medal can be seen in the 2nd century Roman marble relief from the Borghese Collection (now in the Louvre) entitled "The Three Tyches."

Estimate: $400.00- $600.00
