GERMANY. Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel. Taler, 1597. Goslar Mint. Heinrich Julius. NGC AU-53.
Dav-9091; KM-MB290. The so-called 'Wahrheitstaler,' this type gets its name from the depiction of Veritas, the Roman personification of the truth, or possibly of Christ, standing with arms outstretched and with representations of Slander and Lies lying below. Above and around the standing figure is the Latin phrase 'truth conquers all.' A highly interesting example, with some deeper toning and scattered luster.
Estimate: $400.00- $600.00
